Parliamentary Committee into Clergy Sex Abuse

The Parliamentary Committee recently set up to look into churches handling of sexual assaults has had its funding cut in the State budget.  This is patently ridiculous when there were already questions about its capacity to undertake the onerous and complex task it had been given.  We were already worried that it would not have enough people and resources to chase up documents and interview people prior to the budget cuts.
If you were feeling cynical you could suggest that the bipartisan Family and Community Development Committee asked to conduct the review of the handling of sex abuse within the church and other private organisations has been set up to fail.
