Public Transports Patrols to Shift to Trams and Buses

We know that people, and women particularly, do not feel safe on public transport at night. Given this it is amazing that the new Public Transport Victoria organisation thinks it is a good idea to move V/Line inspectors from on-board night-time security duties to morning ticketing policing.  This is in the interests of reducing fare evasion from 9.4 percent to 7 percent in the next year or two.  If this is at the expense of the safety of passengers on trains it will prove to be a false economy.
