Rabbi Boruch Dov Lesches

It is not acceptable that senior members of religious organisations ignore the law of the land and encourage other people to do so as well.  Rabbi Boruch Dov Lesches is reported (The Age 23.6.13) as having suggested that some of the victims of an alleged paedophile, accused of abusing boys at a Sydney Jewish school, might have consented to sexual relations.  This is just rubbish.
It is illegal for an adult to engage in sexual activities of any description  with a young person under 16 years of age.  Children may well agree to illegal sexual activity with an adult.  In many communities children do not have a voice and are taught to respect their elders and do as they are told.  They will on occasion engage in sexual activities under these circumstances with people in positions of care and authority. The rest of society sees that as child sexual assault.
