ADF - Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Response Office

The Australian Defence Force has established an independent office for victims of sexual assault and misconduct.  The Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Response Office will take confidential reports from victims, provide support to victims and education to military personnel.  Victims will be able to choose not to report to police as can victims in civilian life.
The set up of this Office was one of the key recommendations in Sex Discrimination Commissioner Elizabeth Broderick's Review into the Treatment of Women in the Defence Force undertaken in 2012.  The Defence Force should be congratulated on responding in such a definite manner to the Review recommendations.
